Join us for a ride from West Seattle to Mercer Island on a 33 mile route at a steady pace (12-14 mph).

Let's meet at Jack Block Park and please be ready to ride at 9:45 a.m.  We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

The ride starts off following the standard bike commuter route toward downtown Seattle before turning east on Jackson Street to skirt the fringe of Pioneer Square and go through the International District.  We'll then go through the bike tunnel and cross the Lake.  We'll take a brief rest/snack stop in Aubrey Davis Park on the I-90 lid (Mile 9.5), then "circumnavigate" Mercer Island, in the clockwise direction.  Fortified by a lunch stop in the Mercer Island business district (Mile 23), we'll return to West Seattle, avoiding downtown Seattle and riding through Sodo.

The ride begins at Jack Block Park.  Restrooms and water are available there.  There is parking at the park, and the park can also be reached by public transportation -- take the King County Water Taxi to West Seattle, or take the "C" bus and use the first stop, Branford Street, in West Seattle, and ride about a mile north to the start.  Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case.

This is a social ride.  We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, but our overall goal will be to stay together.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.

We hope you can join us!
