Byrd Barr Place Food Rescue & Delivery Ride
Join us to feed hungry neighbors, meet new friends, have fun riding bikes, and show that bikes are ideal tools for in-city short-haul cargo.
MEETING POINT
Meet at Byrd Barr Place Food Bank at 722 18th Ave, Seattle, at 9:00am sharp. Ride up the alley on the left side of the building, and you'll find us gathered at the back.
WHAT TO BRING
Bring yourself, a bike and a helmet. If you have a trailer, bring that. If not, we have ones you can borrow, and we're happy to show you how to use them too.
We divide into teams based on interest (see activities listed below).
ACTIVITY: RESCUE
We ride to PCC at 23rd and Union and load tubs with their donated overstock, and then haul them back up to Byrd Barr for them to distribute to hungry neighbors.
ACTIVITY: HOME DELIVERY
We load up trailers with pre-packaged food boxes, and deliver them to neighbors who are unable to visit Byrd Barr in person. We deliver mostly to apartment buildings, and some homes.
ACTIVITY: LITTLE FREE PANTRY REFILL
We do this activity as volunteer and food availability permits. Similar to delivery, except that we deliver to little free pantries in Byrd Barr’s neighborhood. Anyone who is hungry can then help themselves from the pantry.
SOCIAL GATHERING
Whatever activity you do, everyone is invited to join us for a social afterwards at Tailwind Café, located at GoodWeather Bike Shop.
